A bit of history:
Records of decorative painting indicate that this
form of art is as old as Human History. It dates back far
before the invention of the early writing systems, which took
place circa 8,000 years ago.
During the cave age, artists from the Neolithic period would
adorn cave walls with a refined view of applying artistic
language, by using the technique of relief to enhance the
outlining of the drawing, by portraying a female nude, a dance
ritual or even the dramatic death of a mammal.
Any social event was registered to posterity in a vigorous
view and a detailed observation from the part of these fantastic
artists.
They would prepare their own ink with precise colors and a
fixation capacity which would not fade away with the passing
of the centuries. It was a very efficient technique, to the
amazement of modern ink manufacturers.
Decorative painting has never disappeared along its history.
On the contrary, it has constantly influenced behaviors, political,
social and religious movements.
The great empires have always fed themselves on and been intimate
with decorative art. It can be seen in the Ancient Babylon,
in the Ancient Egypt, in the Greek-Roman period, or in any
other primitive civilization.
Nowadays, decorative art is seen in an African tribal hut,
in a medieval palace, in a European mansion or even in a Café
in New York.
